Recording and Playback in JackTrip

Recording your sessions on JackTrip is a powerful feature that allows you to capture your musical collaborations in lossless audio quality, and share them with others. 🔴

Start your Private Recording

• Click the "Record" button in the JackTrip app.
  
• Choose between live streaming (see this article instead) or private recording.
  Note that you can share your private recordings with others as well (see below).
• Select 'Start Recording' in the 'Private Recording' section to start the recording immediately.
  
• Once your recording has started, a female voice will announce the beginning of the recording ("Private Recording is starting"). Also, the Record button will turn red to indicate active recording.
  

Recording options

• Enable Video: Records all participant's video along with the audio. If turned off, JackTrip will only record audio.
• Stem Recordings: Enabling this powerful feature results in JackTrip recording each individual participant separately. In addition to the separated audio stems, a master mix will also be recorded.

Stop Recording

Once you'd like to stop recording, simply hit 'Stop Recording' in the Recording menu.

Accessing Recordings

• After recording, click the "Manage Your Recordings" button in the recording menu.
• View your recordings and add information to your recording, including a recording name, description, and visibility.
• Download your recordings, or open them in your web browser to play back or share with others.
• Each recording includes individual stems for separate tracks, allowing for detailed mixing and editing.
• Import recordings into your preferred audio editing software, such as Audacity or Ableton Live, to further refine your music.

Change the visibility of your recordings

In the Web App under the 'Recordings' tab, you can change the visibility of your recordings to control who can see your video and who cannot.

  Visible to everyone and publicly displayed on JackTrip.com.

Share recordings

Under the Recording tab in the Web app, you can click on the three buttons under 'Action' on the right-hand side and select 'Share Recording' to copy the link to your clipboard to share with others.

Alternatively, if you've opened a recording on in your browser, you can simply copy the URL and share it with others.

Play back in your studio

Other than downloading and sharing your recordings through the Web app, you can also play back your recordings right there in your studio!

Simply open the Studio menu in your Desktop App and select the Recordings tab:

Here, you can find, rename, edit, and play back your Studio recordings in the music player. Note that all recordings will be played back in original, uncompressed quality.
