How to Update your JackTrip Bridge

NOTE: THIS PAGE IS OUTDATED. THE JACKTRIP BRIDGE DEVICE HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACED BY THE DESKTOP APP, WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SPECIAL HARDWARE. PLEASE USE THAT INSTEAD.

When first powered on, the bridge downloads and installs any updates. If you don't have the latest version, do the following:

  1. Unplug the Bridge from power
  2. Wait 10 seconds
  3. Plug in power to the Bridge
  4. Wait while the Bridge installs updates (Note: this may take several minutes! Don't unplug while it's updating.)
  5. Once you see the device online on the device page, you're good to go!

If this doesn't work the first time, repeat steps 1-5, making sure not to unplug too soon when trying again.

Advanced Steps

If it still doesn't update the bridge, you can force an update using the ssh command line utility:

ssh pi@jacktrip.local sudo systemctl restart jacktrip-patches

The password is "jacktrip". Try power cycling the device one more time after running this command.

Alternatively, you can just re-flash the MicroSD card using the latest Virtual Studio Device image. This will require updating your device's credentials after flashing.
