Using the Media Player in JackTrip

You can play any audio in your studios using the Media Player. This includes self-uploaded backing tracks, JackTrip recordings, and even a metronome/tuning note!

Once you've joined a studio using the Desktop App, you can access the media player and other features by opening the Studio Menu (see below).

In the Studio Menu you will find different tabs, allowing you access a variety of ways to play back audio files.

Note that our smart latency-compensation algorithm ensures that all audio is heard at the same time for all participants.

The "Tracks" tab

Here, you can upload any audio file (.wav/.mp3/.flac), and play it back instantly in your studio. All participants will be able to hear the track and you can play together along with the music. Your tracks are saved in the cloud, making them available for reuse across all of your future sessions.

The "Recordings" tab

Here, you can find all previous recordings you've made in your current studio, and play back those recordings to everyone. This is a great way to review and refine your performance, but it also allows you to synchronously play on top of something that you've recorded before.

If you enabled the stem recording feature for your recording, you'll be able to select specific stems to play back. This is a great way to fill in for someone who couldn't make practice.

The "AI Generator" tab

Here, you can input a description of your desired background track, which will then be generated by Artificial Intelligence. Once finished generating, you can also go ahead and play it back in the Media Player, allowing you to play on top of the generated audio.

The "Metronome" tab

Allows you to play a metronome in your JackTrip studio. You can set both the tempo (in BPM = Beats per Minute), as well as the volume of your metronome.

The "Tuning Note" tab

Outputs a reference pitch to your studio, which can be handy when tuning your instruments accordingly.
